for outcomes they couldn’t have predicted.
but don’t you want to yell sometimes,
“how could they not have known?!”

‘we can keep the banks running without bailing out the incredibly rich people who drove them to ruin.’
Published 25 Mar 2008 om 0 CommentsWe can also help homeowners without bailing out the banks.… we can temporarily change the rules on foreclosure to give homeowners the right to rent at the fair market rate. This would provide them with security in their home. More importantly, it would likely create a situation where most homeowners stay in their house as owners, since banks would rather renegotiate mortgage terms than end up as landlords.
ok, going on the record again to support this! yay!
in my opinion, moral hazards should be prioritized largest first. i recently read that this is not how some people see things but those people have clams for brains.
With the collapse of the housing bubble, we are finding out they were far less financially sophisticated than any of us could have imagined.
really? what, were they supposed to have learned from their mistakes? clams!
all week thinking, ‘what’s the flipside of disaster capitalism?’ •
Published 25 Mar 2008 om 4 Commentswhat’s the alternative to leaving people high and dry to drive up water prices? something we can do in years instead of decades. without leaning on a war economy because this being a global problem, we can’t very well count on a human civil war paying the bills. either we’re solving the problem or we’re suffering from it, there’s no natural buffer this time. from here there’s only thermodynamics, macro-chemistry, and, you know, space. not something we want knocking at our door. the sun is a fair-weather friend, damn her.
so i think we’re talking about a global new deal. i don’t know who or how it gets done. but — you know what lifts boats?
lifting boats.
also you need boats for lifting.
international unions seem like they’re already on top of this. there is so much i have to write down here.…
ps. now’s probably the time for me to backtrack and explore the world of eco-socialism. have i mentioned how much i dislike dogma?
and witness the undeniable fact that i didn’t break any stories about peak-nature food aid shortfalls. not for unattended children.
ps. now with a massive amount of gasoline-related puffery!
